Marble

Marble is a natural stone that has an elegant look. Due to its porosity, it requires frequent sealing and may stain, especially when exposed to acids like tomato or wine. Marble is readily available and may be better suited for a bathroom if wear and tear is an issue.

Granite

White granite countertops also needs to be sealed, and has a higher level of porousity than darker colors. The frequency of applying sealer can be once a quarter to once every few years. There are many varieties to choose from for every style and taste. A great choice for kitchens and bathrooms, extremely hard, heat resistant and durable.

Quartz

White quartz countertops is the most popular color, mimicking marble with its veins throughout. These counters are man-made engineered stone consisting of 90% quartz granules and the balance of resins, polymers and pigments. They are extremely durable and non-porous, meaning no sealing is necessary; however, they are not heat resistant. They can withstand heat up to 350 degrees.

Quartzite

Demand for quartzite has been growing in recent years. It looks similar to marble but performs like granite. This makes it a perfect choice for those wanting a marble countertop, without excessive etching or staining. Quartzite is a high-end stone known for its translucent appearance and veining. Quartzite needs to be sealed but is not as porous as marble. The cost is usually on the upper end of the spectrum, but it has a terrific natural appearance.
